Cultivate healing while sowing the seeds of change.
Sara Budin, licensed marriage & FAMILY THERAPIST IN San Francisco, The San Francisco Bay Area, and throughout CAlifornia
Do you recall a time when feeling overwhelmed, stuck, sad or isolated weren’t the norm?
Maybe there has been a significant change in your life: a death, an illness/diagnosis, a divorce/separation, a job loss/change, or a relocation. Life is always changing, and throughout these transitions you seek understanding, acceptance, and how to make meaning in your life. Sometimes it can all feel overwhelming. You deserve to be seen and heard during this time with compassion and without judgement. Therapy with me is not a one-size fits all approach. I recognize that your circumstances are unique, so my process is tailored to collaborate with you while respecting and keeping your goal(s) in mind.
What it’s like to work with me
Hi, I’m Sara Budin (she/her), a licensed psychotherapist (LMFT #140215) in San Francisco.
I offer therapy for teens and adults, just like you, who want to:
Find relief and heal
Process thoughts, feelings, memories and questions without judgement within a safe space
Rediscover meaning and joy
Together, we will:
Examine and identify the issues that are causing you discomfort in your life and relationships.
Identify patterns that you want to change
Nurture and explore your understanding of past experiences
Cultivate your communication skills to support you in your relationships
Develop your coping tools that help you navigate and understand your emotions and feelings
My integral and relational therapeutic approach is trauma informed and influenced by Humanistic Therapy, Transpersonal Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Internal Family Systems (parts work), Gestalt Therapy, Eco-Therapy, and mindfulness.
While therapy is no laughing matter, I believe that an occasional dose of humor and playfulness within sessions can foster connection and be a salve needed to facilitate your healing process. I believe that everyone is an innately creative being and your imagination and creativity are tools to cultivate your well-being.
At the end of the day, you want to know that you are working with someone who understands how it feels to experience loss, overwhelm and uncertainty.
I get it, because I’ve been there too.
My own experience in therapy helped me identify, heal, and make meaning of my own grief/loss, life transitions and anxiety. Ultimately, through nurturing my own resilience and confidence, I navigated infertility, the illnesses and loss of loved ones, and in midlife, I chose to switch careers from a designer to a psychotherapist. I grew up in the Midwest, studied art, made jewelry, travelled, designed fashion accessories for humans and dogs (yes, dogs), and lived in NYC. I’ve called San Francisco home since 2005 and I continue to enjoy exploring the Bay Area with my partner and child. I am a curious person and I love reading, cooking, travelling, being in nature, and making and experiencing art.
